What’s Up Now? 4th of July Camping

July 3rd, 2014

Now that the 4th of July Holiday week is upon us it is all about celebrating living in the USA! In Tahoe, this is the prime time for camping. Camping, for me, delivers all the best freedoms of being an American. This week I am camping at Stampede Reservoir just outside of Truckee, California. Not only does Stampede allow jet boats for skiing/boarding, but also offers amazing fishing.   Only 20 minutes from Truckee, Stampede allows me to step into the wilderness and be the mountain man I am with the option of quickly shooting into town to shower for a mid-day client meeting. Now that’s American!

A Somewhat Typical Camping Day

Yesterday started with a great classic camping breakfast of bacon, eggs and potatoes. After a few swift modifications to the campsite we were off for a brisk morning ski.  The scenery of the alpine mountain lake is contagiously relaxing and can leave the stress of even the busiest corporate mogul in the boat wake. The banter of Blue Jays and an occasional late night coyote cry replace busy freeways and the click of the keyboard.   In the evening we experienced a great fly hatch on the Little Truckee that allowed us to hook a couple beautiful rainbow trout. We headed back to the site just in time for dusk to relax and begin the best park of camping, dinner around the campfire.
